Shawn E. Gilleylen
Shawn E. Gilleylen founded and manages Administrative Support Associates, a firm specializing in business etiquette training, professional image, workplace communication, and customer service training. Before the expansion into business etiquette training, Shawn provided executive support services with a niche in private equity. Prior to starting the company in 2001, Shawn served as Speechwriter and Legislative Assistant for U.S. Senator Christopher S. Bond (R-MO). Having extensive analytical writing and research experience, Shawn developed the ability to convey complex and controversial information into clear, concise, meaningful terms.
After years of interviewing job candidates and observing employees who lacked good manners and business etiquette skills, Shawn created the Success with Etiquette™ Training Program. With over 15 years of professional expertise working with dignitaries and CEOs, Shawn helps businesses and individuals gain a competitive edge by strengthening their professionalism, corporate image, communication skills, and productivity.
Shawn’s highly energetic, warm, interactive style captivates audiences of all ages and facilitates a dynamic dialogue interaction. During her fun-filled, educational, and entertaining presentations, participants enjoy “real-world” scenarios. Shawn has presented to a wide spectrum of audiences from corporate executives to educational institutions and professinal associations to career fairs. She has helped people from all walks of life polish their image and professional presence.
Shawn is an extiquette expert, professional speaker, corporate trainer and author. She has been featured on FOX 5 TV News and radio programs discussing how to boost your professional success with etiquette. Shawn developed the Bridging the Generations program manual for the National Head Start Association, which is published and utilized worldwide by Head Start centers.
Shawn is a member of the DC Chamber of Commerce, Education Committee, Workforce Development Council and member of the National Association of Female Executives. She is a Board member of the Greater Washington Women's Network and graduate of the Greater Washington Board of Trade Small Business Academy Program. For the past three years, Shawn has devotedly served as a volunteer tutor in reading and journal writing with CentroNia’s Family Literacy Program and member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Shawn is an avid trap and skeet shooter who enjoys great outdoor adventures.
After earning her bachelor’s degree in communication studies from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Shawn worked as a creative writing teacher in the St. Louis Public School System. During her tenure in the United States Senate from 1991 until 1998, Shawn handled public policy matters on education, labor, and children and family issues. She has drafted early childhood education, welfare reform, and job training legislation and was the Senator’s principal advisor on education-health and human services-labor appropriations.
